Willkommen Zu Hause Ulf Aminde

Exhibition 24th Aug – 24th Sept 2005

The Gallery Invaliden1 shows, in an individual exhibition, the most recent work by Berlin based artist Ulf Aminde.

“Willkommen zu Hause” (video projection, 35´), is a Work in Progress shown for the first time this year at the Belluard Festival, Fribourg, Switzerland. In this film, shot in Ikea shop in Lausanne, the relationship between the characters "Traenna" and "Factum" develops throughout Ikea's ready made sets for happiness: full equipped kitchens, living, bed or bath/rooms –the actors are "real" Ikea clients, different for each of the sequences. The consistence of this sitcom – with a very common story – lies in the fact that, potentially, each one of the actors is a real protagonist of the very existence of "Traenna" and "Factum", and at the same time of their own intimate scenarios of daily life, these in turn being a repetition of the ones at the Ikea showrooms.

Amindes work, mainly video with a strong scenographic content and focus on process, is dedicated to reflect the socio-emotional mechanisms which structure capitalist societies. His work has previously been concentrated on groups of people at the opposite extreme of the ones featured at “Willkommen zu Hause”, i.e. outsiders from conventional social participation: Street musicians in “Das Leben ist kein Wunschkonzert” (Video, 2005), alcoholics at “Täter und Opfer” (Video, 2003/2004) homeless people at “Ohne festen Wohnsitz” (Audio Installation, 2004) or punks at “Weiter”, (Video, 2003). These works were shown last may at Amindes solo exhibition “The Survival of the Fittest”, at Kunstverein Wolfsburg.
